Confessions of a Narrowboat Nerd
I follow several narrowboat channels on YouTube. It’s a guilty pleasure I picked up during the pandemic a few years ago. I fell in love with the charming houseboats — someday I want to retire on one traveling England’s inland waterways, visiting historical villages, and cooking homemade meals in a cozy onboard kitchen.
The Canal Hireboat Project
It’s a distant dream to be sure. But it got me to thinking. What if I combined my love of narrowboats with my Salesforce certification prep? That’s when my hireboat business implementation was born.
There are several services in the UK that rents out narrowboats for day trips and longer excursions. As part of my Platform Administrator Certification prep, I’ve created a fictional husband-and-wife team who own a small narrowboat fleet and would like to set up their reservations, payments and customer portal on Salesforce.
In this series of posts, I will follow the implementation from start to finish. It’ll start with a spotlight on my fictional couple along with their business specs and requirements.
